Our Austin office also conducts boundary, topographic and construction surveying, feasibility studies, infrastructure evaluations, utility rate analysis and overall project management services. Our primary clients include cities, utility districts and developers.

Steve Ihnen, P.E.

Early in his career, Mr. Ihnen served the engineering needs of various cities throughout the Southwest before settling in Austin, Texas. In 1998 he acquired Garrett/Associates Engineering from his former boss and mentor, Jack Garret, to form Garret-Ihnen Civil Engineers. He led Garrett-Ihnen with integrity and excellence for 21 years, developing strong relationships with city leaders in surrounding municipalities, and keeping his team focused on client satisfaction.

His passion for encouraging others and maintaining strong relationships has also led him to become a member of the Aggie 100 and serve on the board of the Austin Contractors and Engineers Association at different times throughout his career.

After discovering kindred values and shared motivation with John Bleyl, Garrett-Ihnen Civil Engineers became a part of Bleyl Engineering's Austin office in 2019. With 30 years' experience in civil engineering, Mr. Ihnen continues to lead his team as the regional manager for our Austin office, serving the communities of Austin and the surrounding areas with excellence and integrity.
